Haddington’s Advisory Board helps identify macro trends within the domestic energy industry, assists Haddington in conducting due diligence on specific investment opportunities, recommends potential senior management personnel for portfolio companies, and occasionally sources potential transactions for the Haddington funds. Some Advisory Board members also have played a more active role with Haddington portfolio companies by advising portfolio company management teams on corporate strategies and other matters.
Ronald H. Benson
Mr. Benson is a highly skilled and accomplished executive with over 35 years in the upstream, downstream, oil and gas trading operations, and business development, with Marathon Oil Co, Phibro Energy Inc, and TPC Corporation. Mr. Benson was responsible for Phibro's 50% interest in the White Nights Joint Enterprise in Western Siberia, the first oil and gas drilling and production joint venture in the former Soviet Union. Mr. Benson is presently on the Board of Directors of the Western Research Institute in Laramie, Wyoming.
Michael J. DeConcini
Michael J. DeConcini has been the Chief Operating Officer and a Senior Vice President of Tucson Electric Power Co. (“TEP”) and Transmission and Distribution of Tucson Electric Power Co. since August, 2006. Mr. DeConcini serves as Chief Operating Officer of UniSource Energy Corporation. Mr. DeConcini served as a Senior Vice President of Investments and Planning of UniSource Energy Corporation, a subsidiary of Tucson Electric Power Co. since October 2000. He served as a Senior Vice President and the Chief Operating Officer of the Energy Resources business unit of TEP, effective January 1, 2003. He served as the Chief Operating Officer of Energy Resources - TEP of Unisource Energy Corp. and also served as its Senior Vice President of Energy Resources business unit - TEP since January 1, 2003. Mr. DeConcini joined TEP in 1988 and served in various positions in finance, strategic planning and wholesale marketing. He served as a Manager of TEP's Wholesale Marketing Department in 1994, adding Product Development and Business Development in 1997. Since November 1998, he served as a Vice President of MEH, and also served as a Vice President of Strategic Planning of UniSource Energy since February 1999. He serves as a Director of Powertrusion International Inc. Infinite Power Solutions, Inc. and UNS Gas, Inc. He has been Director of Tucson Electric Power Co. since August 2009. He has a MBA from Arizona State University and a BS from Minnesota State University.
E. Linn Draper, Jr.
Dr. Draper is the former Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of American Electric Power Company, Inc. (NYSE-AEP), one of the largest power utilities in the U.S. He joined AEP in 1992, following his thirteen year tenure with Gulf State Utilities Co. in Beaumont, Texas, where he served as Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer.
Fred J. Fowler
Mr. Fowler retired as President and Chief Executive Officer of Spectra Energy Corp in December 2008. Prior to Spectra Energy’s separation from Duke Energy, Mr. Fowler served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Duke Energy Gas. Mr. Fowler formerly served as Group President for Duke’s Energy Transmission businesses, both gas and electric transmission. Before joining Duke Energy in 1985, Mr. Fowler was President of Wynn-Fowler Trading Company from 1978 to 1985. He began his energy business career in 1968 with Conoco, Inc. Mr. Fowler served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors for TEPPCO Partners from March 1998 to February 2003, and as Chairman of the Board of DCP Partners from April 2007 to January 2009. Mr. Fowler received a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from Oklahoma State University at Stillwater.
Terry Looper
Mr. Looper is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Texon LP, a 20 year old Houston energy company with $5 billion in revenues for 2008. Texon buys crude, natural gas and gas liquids from U.S. producers and blends butane into gasoline pipelines and terminals using a patented system. Mr. Looper formerly served as Executive Vice President and Co-Founder of Petro Source Corp. from 1981 to 1989. He also worked at Monsanto Corp from 1970 to 1980. Mr. Looper has a B.S. Engineering from Lamar University.
Oliver “Rick” Richard, III
Mr. Richard is currently the Chairman of CleanFuel/USA, an alternative motor fuel company based in Georgetown, Texas. He is also the Director of Empire of the Seed, LLC, his consulting firm. Mr. Richard was Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Columbia Energy Group from 1995 to 2000. Mr. Richard is a former FERC Commissioner, the youngest Commissioner ever appointed to the FERC. He received the FERC Chairman’s Medal and the Distinguished Service Medal from the U.S. Secretary of Energy for his role in unbundling interstate pipeline markets. Previously, Mr. Richard served as Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President of New Jersey Resources; as President and Chief Executive Officer of Northern Natural Gas Pipeline; and as Vice President and General Counsel of Tenngasco. Mr. Richard earned a B.A. in Journalism and a Juris Doctorate of Law degree from Louisiana State University. He also received a Master of Law in Taxation from Georgetown University.
John M. “Mick” Seidl
John M. Seidl is the chairman of the board and CEO of EnviroFuels LLC, a private entity in the energy industry headquartered in Houston, Texas. He has held that position since October 2008 and earlier was both the chairman of the board and vice chairman of its advisory board. Seidl has been in the energy business in various positions since 1977. He is a member of the Board of Directors of St. Mary Land and Exploration Company (NYSE: SM) which is an exploration and production company headquartered in Denver, Colorado. Mr. Seidl has also served as a member of the Advisory Board of ITI Energy of Aberdeen, Scotland which is a public entity established by Scottish Enterprises in 2002 and recently consolidated into Scottish Enterprises. Seidl graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point with a B.S. degree. He earned Master (1966) and Ph.D. (1969) degrees in political economy and government from Harvard University. Seidl spent 10 years in the United States Air Force (1961-71), the last six as a Ph.D student and as an assistant professor in the Department of Social Sciences at the United States Military Academy.
Clark Smith
Mr. Smith is currently the President and Chief Operating Officer of Buckeye Partners, L.P., a MLP with $2.8 billion in assets. Buckeye owns 5,400 miles of refined product pipelines serving markets in 16 states. He was previously a Managing Director with Engage Investments, L.P., from 2004 to 2007; President of El Paso Corporation from 2000 to 2003; President of Engage Energy, L.L.C. from 1997 to 2000; President of Coastal Gas Marketing Company from 1988 to 1997; and Executive Vice President of Transwestern Pipeline Company (an Enron company) from 1985 to 1988. Mr. Smith has a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from the University of Texas – 1976 and a Master’s Degree in Businesss Administration from the University of Texas – 1978.
Kyle D. Vann
Since 2005, Mr. Vann has served as an independent consultant to many energy companies. Beginning in 2001, he served as CEO of Entergy-Koch, LP (EKLP), a profitable energy trading and transportation company, which has since been sold in 2004. Previously he served as a Senior Vice President of Koch Industries and in various managerial positions with Exxon Corporation. Currently, Mr. Vann has retired and continues to consult with Entergy and Texon, L.P. while serving on the advisory board for Texon, L.P. He also serves on the board of Legacy Reserves, LLC. Mr. Vann graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. He is a member of the Board of Advisors for the University of Kansas School of Engineering and has been inducted into the Chemical and Petroleum Engineering Hall of Fame.
