The World's Largest Renewable Energy Storage Hub

ACES Delta is expanding America’s next frontier of clean energy with green hydrogen. A joint venture between Mitsubishi Power Americas and Magnum Development (a Haddington Portfolio Company), ACES Delta is developing what is expected to be the world’s largest renewable energy hub to produce, store, and deliver green hydrogen to the Western United States.

ACES Delta’s projects will enable utility and industrial scale green hydrogen production from renewable energy sources and store the hydrogen in underground salt dome caverns to provide a huge reservoir of renewable fuel for power generation.

The first project is Advanced Clean Energy Storage 1 or ACES 1.  ACES 1 will combine utility and industrial scale renewable hydrogen production, storage, and transmission and will support the Intermountain Power Agency’s (IPA) IPP Renewed Project—an 840 MW hydrogen-capable gas turbine combined cycle power plant. Initially, the plant will run on a blend of 30% green hydrogen and 70% natural gas starting in 2025 and incrementally expanding to 100% green hydrogen by 2045. From this first project, ACES Delta has plans to deploy hydrogen hubs across the United States to accelerate and support the clean energy transition.

ACES Delta Hubs will capture excess renewable energy, such as wind and solar, during off-peak hours to inexpensively power electrolyzers that convert water molecules to “green” hydrogen and oxygen. Representing one of the world’s largest orders for electrolysis equipment, the initial ACES 1 project will nearly double the global installed capacity for electrolysis.

Enabling previously unattainable utility and industrial scale storage of renewable energy, ACES Delta is transforming intermittent renewables into reliable, safe, and affordable energy. With ACES Delta, the clean energy possibilities are limitless.
